Jarrod Crooks
Jarrod Crooks began his journey as a filmmaker at the ripe young age of 12. He got his start by recreating classic stories such as “Faust”, “The Man in the Iron Mask”, and “The Purloined Letter”. After a few years of experimentation, Jarrod began creating his own stories such as “Ice War” and “The First Mission”.
At this point, it was apparent that Jarrod had become a very skilled cinematographer. To challenge himself and take his skills to the next level, Jarrod started adding martial art fight scenes!
In 2006, Crooks premiered “Deal With It” at Cedar Creek Cinema, and, it sold out! Then, 3 years to the date, he released the feature film, “Thieves Like Us“. Jarrod had the idea to do a thief movie in 2003, but the writing process would not take place until 2007 while he was working on Ric McCloud’s “Unholy Reunion.”
It was on “Unholy Reuninon” that enabled Jarrod to network with a group of talented actors including Shannon McDonough, Dan Quaile, Ric McCloud, and Phil Berbig, who all have major roles in “Thieves Like Us“.
In 2011, Jarrod directed several short films including “Hostile Possession“, a Horror film, “Nowhere to be Found“, a Detective cop Drama, “Taken Blind“, a western shot in the Badlands, South Dakota, and “Blunderlust” filmed in St. Paul, MN.
"Dispatched" will be Crooks' fourth feature film to have a theatrical release and feature a lot of names from the past and some brand new talent as well.
Fun Fact: While shooting a fight scene once, Jarrod was punched in the mouth and ended up losing a tooth over it. He now has 4 crowns and 1 implant.
